How Do I Clean My Nespresso® Machine Without Taking It Apart?
If you love your morning coffee, you likely rely on your Nespresso® machine every single day. Over time, though, coffee oils, residue, and unpleasant tastes build up inside the machine and that can affect the taste of your coffee and the performance of your machine.
The good news? Cleaning your Nespresso® OriginalLine® machine at home is simple, and you don’t need to take it apart.
Here’s how to clean your Nespresso® machine without taking it apart.
1. Rinse your coffee machine daily
After you have enjoyed your last coffee of the day, run a rinse cycle with only water (no capsule inside).
- Top the water tank up.
- Put a cup under the coffee outlet/spout.
- Run a normal brew cycle.
Doing this helps flush out loose coffee residue and oil, preventing premature build-up and clogging.
2. Empty and wash removable parts
No tools required, just remove and rinse.
- The drip tray.
- The used capsule basket.
- The water tank.
Wash them with warm, soapy water, rinse well, and let them dry before putting them back. This prevents mould, bacteria, and unpleasant smells.
3. Use a Nespresso® compatible cleaning capsule
For a deep clean, again, you don’t need to take your Nespresso® machine apart. All you need to remove coffee oils and residue is a Caffenu® Nespresso® compatible cleaning capsule.
Simply:
- Insert the cleaning capsule like a regular coffee capsule.
- Run the brew cycle. First press the Espresso (40ml) button, wait 1 minute then press the Lungo (110ml) button to brew again.
- Eject the cleaning capsule.
- Close machine and press the Lungo button to run a rinse cycle. Repeat twice.
Doing a deep-clean cycle cleans the internal brewing chamber and coffee spout, without the need to take your Nespresso® machine apart. It’s as easy as making your favourite cup of coffee.
4. How often should you clean?
- Quick rinse: Rinse with water (no pod inserted) daily.
- Deep clean: Use a Caffenu® cleaning capsule after every 30 cups of coffee, or at least once a month.
Final thoughts
You don’t need to take your Nespresso® machine apart to clean or take care of it. A simple cleaning routine at home will do the trick. Taking a bit of time to give your machine the care it needs will prevent the need for repairs.
Most importantly, cleaning your machine means better-tasting coffee, and a longer-lasting investment.
