So you want to know why your beloved coffee machine is spewing out warm coffee instead of the steaming hot cuppa you used to? Well, let’s take a quick look at how water is heated inside your machine.

Most modern coffee machines use thermoblock technology systems which heat water through contact. These systems have small channels that allow water to pass through it. So how hot the water will get depends on the contact time and the surface area of contact between the water and the thermoblock.

Okay, now let’s move on to the probable cause of your problem with cold coffee. Over time a layer of limescale tends to build up around the thermoblock and inside its channels. This build-up decreases the surface area and ultimately the contact the water will have with the thermoblock.

The build-up restricts the transfer of heat to the water which means you get colder coffee. Blocked thermoblock channels can also eventually lead to machine failure! And we definitely don’t want that!

So what’s the solution? Descale your machine regularly, at least every 3-6 months.

But be careful what to use! Most descalers contain less effective active ingredients or even toxic substances. Our premium Caffenu® Eco Descaler is biodegradable, environmentally friendly and phosphate-free. Our descaler uses a food-safe, high-grade lactic acid from Europe that restores the heating efficiency of your machine so you can enjoy the hot coffee you deserve.
