Sanitize and keeping it clean, that is now more important than ever. You have probably seen this build-up at the bottom of your kettle before?

This comes from the high concentration of calcium in some of the water we use. In order to test the efficiency of sanitizing products, we took this old kettle with an impressive build-up of limescale and decided to put our Caffenu® Eco Descaler to the test!

The results were overwhelming (all the build-up stuff is gone!): a limescale-free, sanitized kettle. Now just think about this: The surface of your kettle is visible, you can actually see the build-up, but what about the inside of your coffee machine? There are places we simply can’t see, where heat and moisture are present. Those places build up that exact limescale, as well as coffee residues and bacteria.

It isn’t a fun thing to consider, but coffee machines do build up some foul mess, and that’s why it is essential to give your coffee machine a thorough cleaning every now and then, too; to avoid the potentially harmful substances that build up in your precious machine, and ensure you always get a perfect cup of coffee!

Please remember, also use a cleaning capsule on your machine (if available) or a cleaning tablet, as it is just as important as descaling. Here is a complete guide on how to clean which specific coffee machine.

Please, keep it clean!

We are so excited to tell you about this one! If you have a Keurig® K-Cup® coffee brewer, surely you have heard some of these bad news. Dirty and blocked brewing chambers, dangerous bacteria lingering inside the spout, lime scale in the pipes of the machine, all that stuff you do not want in your next freshly brewed cup of coffee.

The only way to ensure a fresh cup of coffee is to have a strict cleaning regime for your brewer. The problem though is, most parts of the machine are completely inaccessible without you taking your machine apart. Well, some invention was necessary to come up with an easy way to clean where you cannot reach.

The Caffenu Complete Maintenance Kit was specifically invented to clean the inside of Keurig® K-Cup® brewer.

Cleaning Procedure: To clean your machine, simply insert one of the cleaning pods into the pod holder of your machine. Simply run the pod the same as a coffee capsule. It releases a unique foaming action which removes old coffee-oils and bacteria from all the nooks and crannies all at the press of a button. We recommend to use a cleaning pod after every 30 cups of coffee made, or at least once a month.

Descaling Procedure: Now take the second part of the Kit, the eco descaler, and clean the pipes and boiler of your brewer to remove lime scale and mineral build-up (that white stuff you can see in kettles). This is a longer process, but very efficient as it makes sure that your heating element and pump of your machine can function correctly, meaning you get hot coffee. You only need to descale every 3 months, depending on the water hardness in your area. The harder the water, the more often we recommend that you descale.

One thing we know for sure. Cleaning & Descaling are two very different, but important procedures to follow to make sure that your machine lasts longer, and that your coffee is the freshest it can be. Only a clean machine makes the perfect coffee.

The Caffenu Complete Maintenance Kit is suitable for all Keurig® K-Cup® brewers including Keurig® 2.0.

So you want to know why your beloved coffee machine is spewing out warm coffee instead of the steaming hot cuppa you used to? Well, let’s take a quick look at how water is heated inside your machine.

Most modern coffee machines use thermoblock technology systems which heat water through contact. These systems have small channels that allow water to pass through it. So how hot the water will get depends on the contact time and the surface area of contact between the water and the thermoblock.

Okay, now let’s move on to the probable cause of your problem with cold coffee. Over time a layer of limescale tends to build up around the thermoblock and inside its channels. This build-up decreases the surface area and ultimately the contact the water will have with the thermoblock.

The build-up restricts the transfer of heat to the water which means you get colder coffee. Blocked thermoblock channels can also eventually lead to machine failure! And we definitely don’t want that!

So what’s the solution? Descale your machine regularly, at least every 3-6 months.

But be careful what to use! Most descalers contain less effective active ingredients or even toxic substances. Our premium Caffenu® Eco Descaler is biodegradable, environmentally friendly and phosphate-free. Our descaler uses a food-safe, high-grade lactic acid from Europe that restores the heating efficiency of your machine so you can enjoy the hot coffee you deserve.
